How important is staying near Yamanote Line? Areas for cheap hotels?

Looking at some previous posts, people seem to think it’s not that important where you stay in Tokyo, as long as it’s near a metro station with many saying should be on Yamanote Line.

I’m looking for: £80 / 15,000 yen or less per night, near metro station (like up to 10mins walk), free Wi-Fi, breakfast available, decent sized room.

I’ve looked for this around every metro station on Yamanote Line and all the hotel rooms (only filter cant put on Google) are quite small (about 12sqm), which would be manageable, but would probs have to have suitcase blocking the corridor bit and constantly jumping over it. Hotels inlcuded Keio Presso Inn Ikebukuro, Hotel Wing International Select Ueno Okachimachi, and Hotel Guest1 Ueno.

Is it important to be near the Yamanote Line? Do you recommend any hotels? I don’t wanna be spending all day getting trains, but would like bigger room if possible. I’ll just be doing general tourist stuff mostly (but hard to say what as there’s just so much there it seems) and dont plan to leave Tokyo.
