What is a high end vegetarian-friendly restaurant you would recommend?

  1. For high-end vegetarian cuisine in Kyoto, you’re talking about Shojin Ryori, and the standard high-end recommendation is Daitokuji Ikkyu.

  2. There is a really nice tofu restaurant in Arayashima. Right where there is the little garden of all the Buddha statues. And it’s nice because you look out on to a Japanese garden. Fixed menu. Delicious.

  3. Here’s three unforgettable vegan experiences:

    – vegan ramen uzu (ramen)
    – awomb (sushi)
    – tenryu-ji shigetsu (shojin ryori)

    Edit: two out of these three has a bib gourmand, so not high end per se but definitely culinary memories I will treasure for the rest of my life.
    I’m a bit surprised that people suggest izakayas and okonomiyaki when you asked for fine dining.
