I own real estate located abroad. My mother passed away nearly 20 years ago but my father and I have not registered the ownership of the land until last year even though we are the only heirs. (We had just waited on the paperwork, we paid the real estate tax in my home country, for the last 20 years when doing the paperwork to register ownership last year).
Can I still claim that I own the land for more than 5 years while paying capital gains tax in Japan if I sell this land?
