As the title suggests, I would like to know the types of payments are required to register a car and legally drive in Japan. For example, what kinds of taxes, insurances, inspections, etc, are required when registering a car. I own a car here in Japan that I will eventually register in my name and I want to know what the payments are so I can set aside money. I know prices differ by prefecture.
