18 Day Itinerary Check

Here is a rough itinerary for my honeymoon in Japan. We were hoping to see a good mix of things – cultural landmarks and natural beauty, but also have some fun and enjoy good food and drinks. Looking like it will be in mid March. If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions I’d love to hear them. Thanks!

**Day 1: Tokyo**

\- Arrive in late afternoon. Staying in hotel most likely in Shinjuku.

\- Just get bearings a little and settle in.

**Day 2: Tokyo**

\- Head to Shibuya to see crossing area

\- Visit Shibuya Sky Observation Deck

\- Lunch and Shopping in Harajuku

\- Visit Meiji Shrine

\- Cat Street

\- Return to Shinjuku for dinner and drinks

**Day 3: Tokyo**

\- Visit Sensoji Temple in Asakusa

\- Nishi Sando Shopping Street

\- Asakusa Yokocho Food Court

\- Possibly Sky Tower (Q: is it worth doing if already doing Shibuya Sky?)

\- Possibly Edo Tokyo Museum

**Day 4: Day Trip to Kawaguchiko**

\- If weather is nice, take express bus to Kawaguchiko to see Mount Fuji.

\- (Q: Is doing this as a day trip too ambitious?)

**Day 5: Tokyo**

\- Visit Imperial Palace

\- Kitanomaru-koen Park

\- Yasukuni-jinja shrine

\- Return to Shinjuku for food/drinks

**Day 6: Tokyo**

\- Torn between museums at Ueno Park, or walking around Akihabara area. Possibly both?

**Day 7: Tokyo to Kanazawa**

\- Take train.

\- If we arrive early enough, walk around Higashi Chaya District

**Day 8: Kanazawa**

\- Ninjadera in morning

\- Kenrouken Garden

\- Walk around Higashi Chaya District

**Day 9: Kanazawa to Takayama**

\- Take train

\- Stay at Onsen. Walk around and get bearings.

**Day 10: Takayama**

\- Morning Market

\- Hida Folk Village

\- Sake Breweries at night.

**Day 11: Takayama to Kyoto**

\- Take Train. Walk around and get bearings

**Day 12: Kyoto**

\- Kiyomizu dera Temple

\- Sannen zaka hill District

\- Chion-in Temple

\- Shoren-in Temple

\- Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine

**Day 13: Nara**

\- Day trip to Nara via train

\- Todai ji Temple

\- Nara Park

\- Nigatsu Do

\- Back to Kyoto in late afternoon/early evening

**Day 14: Kyoto**

\- Tenryu Ji Temple

\- Arashiyama Bamboo Grove

\- Kinkaku-ji Temple

\- Dinner downtown

**Day 15: Kyoto**

\- Philosopher’s Path Walk

\- Heian Shrine Gardens

\- Dinner walking around Gion district

**Day 16: Kyoto to Mt Koya**

\- Train and Cable car to Mount Koya. Stay at a temple

**Day 17: My Koya to Osaka**

\- Early morning ceremony

\- Train to Osaka

\- Dinner in Minami district

**Day 18: Fly to Seoul**

\- Spending 2 to 3 days in Seoul before flying back to Canada.
