I’m currently on a soon-to-expire tourist visa that expires Feb 6. I am not sure whether I have hit the 180 day limit per year mark, but I am probably close.
I have a company that is willing to sponsor me for a work visa (in addition to granting me a job). We can apply as soon as I want. Two questions:
1) Do I need to leave Japan as soon as we apply for the work visa?
2) If I do leave, am i allowed to re-enter Japan BEFORE i receive the COE? I ask because I have a wedding I want to attend here on 3/31. Now, normally I’d just come here on a tourist visa for the wedding. Does the fact that I have a pending work visa application prevent me from attending that wedding?
