How does the Sakaisuji line and its changing operators to Hankyu work behind the scenes?

I don’t know why I’m so curious about this, but considering all of the train companies in Osaka require you to change gates at connection stations, it’s odd that there’s at least one exception (unsure if there’s more), that not only is a connection between companies but on the same train.

Does operation of the train change between these stations? Do Osaka metro and Hankyu split the difference on fare? I did find on Wikipedia that the hankyu senri line came first and sakaisuji was created later as an extension, but that’s all
