Hi!
I noticed that all Japanese novels seem to have a numbering system for the first syllable in the author’s name as well as a numeric code, but I can’t seem to find any information about it.
For books from Kodansha this is on the book’s spine, back cover, and on the front cover’s flap, whereas for Kadokawa’s books they only have this number on the book’s spine.
For example, Murakami’s 風の歌を聴け has code む6-22, Shinkai’s 君の名は has code し57-3.
Does anyone know what is this system called?
