I’m thinking of moving there soon. For context I grew up a military brat. I’ve been to mainland Japan, Germany, Korea and have lived in most states on the west coast. Everyone I talk to says go! Its safe, laid back, beautiful! Amazing! Good food etc but…can someone that’s been to the west coast or lived in other parts of Asia describe what makes okinawa different from the places I have been to? Is it island vibe and mentality like HI? Aloha spirit type community? Humid like mainland Japan summers? Scorching sun like inland cali? What makes it different from other urban cities in Asia? What do people mean when they continue to say safe? Like the kids still go outside and play til it’s dark? Could I leave my belongings on a public bench and no one would touch it? Just wanting some more details! Fun, biased, opinionated. All are welcome 😁
