I’ve been to Japan a few times over the past year and what’s stood out to me is how sophisticated, educated, cultured everyone seems. In the US we have sophisticated people sure, but we also have tons of people who aren’t, and states like West Virginia and Mississippi are famously stereotyped for being full of poor uneducated people. Does Japan have areas with a similar reputation or is that not really a thing there?
