Hey everyone, Aria here.
Jakarta native, been in Japan for 7 years. Just graduated and now rocking the 9-5 corpo life.
Not gonna lie, Japanese companies can be pretty intense compared to the foreign scene.
Uni life? Don’t get me started – it was a wild ride, working at night, hitting campus in the morning with a solid 3 hours of sleep for 4 years straight.
Now, adulting is hitting me harder, even with a decent night’s sleep. Overtime? Oh yeah, at least 30 hours a month. Still, it’s somehow more draining than my student days. No idea why.
And here’s the plot twist: post-grad life, my Japanese buddies are keeping their distance. I get it, making real friends here can be tricky with all that honne and tatemae stuff. But man, didn’t expect it to hit this hard.
So, anyone in Tokyo, Yokohama, or Kanagawa? Let’s chill sometime. Open to whatever, just need some connection. I’m all about concerts, exhibitions, and photography. Love hitting those up solo, but I’m thinking it’s time to open up and meet new people before it gets even lonelier.
