LGBTQ+ Couple wanting to move to Japan

Hello all!

Me and my fiancé are wanting to move to Japan in a couple of years but are unsure of the best route to go down in order to achieve this goal. We are a gay couple and have visited Japan before which confirmed out desire to move there. I have been learning the language for a few years now which included taking language classes at my local language school in London.

What are the best steps to moving out there? Especially as a gay couple? I have teaching experience as an Art and Design teacher for a secondary school and a teaching qualification. I am currently an experienced graphic designer. I know I could go down the teaching english route to get out there but my fiancé doesn’t have any teaching experience (or a degree) so I think that option may be closed off to him. Additionally we know that the teaching route likely means we would be split up/send to random schools and therefore potentially would mean we may not be able to live together.

My fiancé works in sales and sells spaces for events so I’m not sure what route he could take?

What routes have you taken or would suggest are open to us? Any advice or things to look out for?

I’ve mentioned us being a gay couple as I don’t know if this would have an impact on anything, if not then fantastic.

Thanks in advance!
