Hey guys, I’m an American going to Japan (specifically Tokyo, but will travel out a little) soon and I’m ecstatic!! I want to ensure I’m being respectful of their cultural differences. I’ve looked online about being a heavily tattooed traveler in Japan, but I want to hear more from good ol’ fashioned Redditors. Not sure if I’m thinking too much into it, but I’d like to be aware. Can I have bare arms when/wherever? Are there places that’d require coverup or possible no entry? (This is most specifically for temples and the like.) Are there any specific types of tattoos that are frowned upon?
