I’ve found several related posts here but they all seem about being in the city, particularly Tokyo. I’m in a rural city in Japan.
I’m looking at renting an older house that I like. Here The older houses cost similarly to a newer but smaller apartment. This place was at the upper limits of my budget but between the rent (50000) and the entrance fee (260000) and the fact my City is lowering our monthly salary to give us a larger bonus, it makes it tight. (One income household with a child).
Do you think trying to get them to lower rent or fees are doable? Any risk in asking? How/when would you do this?
Btw, it is a realtor working for the house owner if that changes anything.
