Management positions‐ Salary ideas

Hey, whenever people talk about teaching, I never see any talk about working your way up in companies. Has anyone made it up through management and have ideas on range of salaries? I recently was offered an assistant manager position at my company that teaches English at various private kindergartens and have been going back and forth over the salary offer but haven’t any data to really go off of. I have been steadily working my way up in the company and currently have a title (basically a senior/lead teacher/new program lead) and have received increases each year but the new offer would only be a 2.4 percent increase over my current salary. It would be nice if there was any other information I should look into or add to my response to the offer.

  1. During my stint in quasi-management at one of the big eikaiwa, a seishain position but responsible for contractors, not employees, starting salary was 280,000 per month + overtime, then bonus + incentive around a month’s salary in summer and winter.

Each rung up the ladder the pay bands supposedly increased 100,000 yen or so each, with the managers managing the quasi-managers making something like 400,000, and the few dudes near the top with cushy “senior manager” titles managing the managers of quasi-managers getting something like 500,000+. My actual salary was a whopping 286,000 per month when I noped out two years later.

  2. I’m a “manager” but I make around ¥320k a month. The low salary is one reason why I’m looking to get out of teaching
