The state of New Japan and the direction moving forward by force.

Well, the past two days felt like a dream. I thought I was dreaming when the news came that Okada was leaving but then reality stuck. After 3 successful shows for New Japan and a seemingly positive outlook coming from those events. But all of the positive energy drained out of my body thinking of the rainmaker no longer making it rain in the company that I love.

Let’s look at the situation:

* The yen is down and they don’t have a TV deal they can rely on for revenue
* Their top Star & Top Gaijin star is leaving
* They can’t compete with AEW or WWE over talent financially.
* Gaijin talent is becoming more expensive to bring in.
* Their other top star(Naito) knees are on death’s door and do not have much time left.
* The president is close to retirement and also knees are on death’s door
* The young talent are unproven stars
* A majority of their talent is older
* The tag division is weak
* The junior division only has 2 top stars
* The NJPW World update has not been well-received

Now we are in a situation where the company is forced to step their game up now and can’t wait any longer to focus on the younger talent but also to creatively think outside the box to keep people interested. The company needs a complete change from top to bottom. The company needs to figure out now who is a priority to keep and may have to cut down more talent and focus on the talent that can benefit them. I hope the company can figure out something.
