I’m looking for a Japanese textbook or just Japanese learning resources in general that teach Japanese using Japanese, as it would might be taught in an Second Language course in Japan.
As helpful as Genki and the other resources I can find online is for learning the basics of Japanese quickly, I’m finding it hard to train my mind to **think** in Japanese, as opposed to thinking in English, then translating to Japanese. I think the biggest reason for that is the nature of how it is usually taught, where everything is explained in English.
It seems well known that full immersion and repetition is the best way to acquire a new language. As I’m starting to understand more Japanese, I would like to rely less on using English to explain Japanese, and I want to rely on the Japanese part of my brain to look up and learn what I don’t understand. I’m reminded of the fact that in English as a Second Language courses, for example, the course is not taught in whatever other language the students speak, it’s taught in English. Without the means to move to Japan myself to take classes like that, I want to find the closest thing possible.
However, my current Japanese knowledge is not enough to be able to Google in Japanese on my own. So if anyone knows of any textbooks or resources that they would use in Japan, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!
