How much should suffice for four year-long Japanese student visa?

I was told in my previous question that anecdotally, having 1.5 to 2.0 million yens in bank account should be enough to be approved for the Certificate of Eligibility, and thus, getting the student visa.

However, I still have a couple of questions. According to some sources, you need **2 million yens** in the bank statement for **one year** of student visa, is this true? I want to do my undergraduate in Japan, which means it’s four years. Does that mean I would need around 8 million yens (2 x 4) in my bank statement? Or will showing about 2 million yens be eligible?

Thank you for your consideration.
