Hi all,
I’ll be in Japan this October and I’ve been fiddling with my itinerary. I’ve seen all sorts of opinions about how much time you should set aside for some attractions, so I’m wondering if the itinerary below is doable based on train/ferry timetables and other recommendations. I’ve made approximations for travel times and how long we may spend at some places.
Tuesday
– Osaka to Himeji (~1.5h)
– Himeji Castle (9 or 10 AM) (2-3h)
– Himeji to Miyajima (12 PM) (~1.5h)
– Miyajima for the night
Wednesday
– morning in Miyajima
– aqua ferry to Hiroshima (10 AM) (~1h)
– Hiroshima Peace Memorial and Park (11 AM) (3-4h)
– Hiroshima to Tokyo (~4h)
– check into Shinjuku hotel
Is stopping in Himeji for a couple hours on the way to Miyajima doable? Is that enough time to see the castle grounds? Would you recommend more time for Hiroshima?
My only concern is rushing from place to place; I’m comfortable cutting Himeji out if you think it’s too tight or more time should be spent in Miyajima (where we would spend the night). I also like the idea of breaking up the train rides since many attractions aren’t far from stations.
Thanks!
