Hello everyone,
I’m seeking some advice. I currently reside overseas, and I have the option to have a Japanese company help me apply for either a regular work visa (Regular Non-HSP Visa) or a highly skilled professional visa (HSP Visa) in Japan.
I meet the criteria for the highly skilled professional visa with a score of 80 points on the scoring table. So, if I understand correctly, regardless of whether I hold a Regular Non-HSP Visa or a HSP Visa, as long as I spend 1 year in Japan, I can apply for permanent residency, is that right?
So, in reality, is there much of a difference between choosing a Regular Non-HSP Visa or a HSP Visa? Does either option have a significant impact on my situation or the process of applying for permanent residency after 1 year?
One main difference I’m currently thinking about is that the processing time for the CoE in the scenario of a Regular Non-HSP Visa might be slower, but it doesn’t tie me to a specific company, making it potentially easier to switch jobs.
Thank you all for your input!
