Whenever someone asks for immersion material, people whip out the usual recommendations: easy manga, light novels and news articles for reading, podcasts, youtube and vtubers for listening. A lot will also recommend games for both reading and listening, and this is where I get confused.

Whenever people recommend games for immersion, they always recommend games that are either only in Japanese, like some RPG’s, or games with popular JP dubs. However, I’ve never seen anyone recommend regular games that simply have JP voice-overs, JP subtitles or both. Is there a specific reason for this? Because if they still make for valid and good immersion material, then I don’t see why they don’t get recommended more.
