Itinerary check for the second part of my trip in April. My wife and I will be coming from Tokyo the week prior.
How does this look? Any suggestions?
Biggest questions revolve around the Osaka day trip. Originally we were going to transfer hotels to stay in Osaka but extended out stay in Kyoto so that we can minimize hotel transfers and added a stop in Hiroshima.
DAY 7 Kyoto – Travel Day + Downtown Kyoto
12-Apr
• Travel from Tokyo to Kyoto (2.5 hr train ride)
• Head to hotel -> drop/store bags. Hotel choice now is Hyatt Regency Kyoto Is this a good location?
• Kyoto Tower
• Check in a new hotel
• Sannen-zaka & Ninenzaka
• Kiyomizu-dera
• Kodai-ji
• Yasaka Shrine
• Giomn Tatsumi Bridge
DAY 8 Kyoto – North Kyoto
13-Apr
• Arashiyama Bambooo Grove
• Iwatayama Monkey Park
• Gio-Ji Temple & Moss Gardle (rent bikes to get here)
• Adashino Nembutsuoji
• Kinkaku-Ji Temple
DAY 9 Kyoto – Eastern Kyoto
14-Apr
• Fushimi Inari Taisha – Red arch shrine
• Daigo Ji Temple
• Tofuku-Ji & Tsujun Bridge
• Pontocho – Narrow alleyways of Pontocho Eateries and teahouses
• Toei Stuido Theme Park
DAY 10 Kyoto w/ Nara – Day Trip
15-Apr
• Day trip train ride (45-60 min) Kyoto
• Nara Park Beautiful deer garden/park
• Todaiji Temple
• Mount Wakakusayama
• Return to hotel
DAY 11 Osaka – Day Trip from Kyoto
16-Apr
• Bullet Train from Kyoto
• Dotonbori District – evening is best
• Shinsaibashi-suji Arcade
• Osaka Castle
• Namba – Minami (Namba downtown) – Namba Tasaka-jinja Shrine
DAY 12 Travel To Hiroshima
17-Apr
• Bullet train from Kyoto to Hiroshima in AM
• Check in/drop bags at hotel
• Hiroshima Peace memorial & Atomic Bomb dome
DAY 13 Hiroshima
18-Apr
• Train then ferry to Miyajima
DAY 14 Hiroshima morning then bullet train back to Tokyo
19-Apr
• Bullet Train back to tokyo prepare to return to USA
• Hotel near Tokyo station or airport – Any recommendations?
DAY 15 Travel Day Japan to USA
20-Apr
• Pack all luggage/bags then train to the airport
• Travel early AM Japan to USA
