Hi thanks in advance for your time and advice!!
Family of four taking a quick 4-night trip from Taipei in November. Our boys are 7&5 and still can’t swim yet, but they do love playing at the beach. Would be everyone’s first time in Okinawa.
The flights are booked and are actually the reason for our trip. We need to fly to North America and I was lucky enough to find that by tacking on flights to/from OKA we’d actually save money off of just taking the flight we needed!! Of course after hotels and incidental costs we come out in the red but I’d been wanting to check out Okinawa so why not?
Anyway, we have three options for our trip.
1) Fancy hotel in Naha for two nights then Zamami Island for one night then back to the Naha hotel for one night. I prefer this option because I think it’ll be the most interesting. But since my kids can’t swim I’m not sure if Zamami is the right fit. They’d probably play on the beach for an hour or two. I’d want to see a beautiful sunset somewhere. That’s about it. But still could be worth it. Should we take the morning fast boat and then stay til the following late afternoon for that fast boat?
2) Fancy hotel in Naha for two nights then a fancy oceanfront hotel much farther up the island for two nights. This is a pretty typical vacation for us. We get treated super well by this hotel chain and we like nice hotels with great views, which is what this second one seems to be. The downside for this one is, well, we don’t NEED another staycation at a fancy hotel. Also, it’s a bit expensive. I booked an ocean view corner suite for a STEAL compared to its going cash rates, however it’s still quite a lot of money as rates are very high that weekend. So I dunno…
3) All four nights at the fancy hotel in Naha. I’ve read a lot about the stuff to do in Naha and I think we’d enjoy it for 2 nights. Since we move slow and also enjoy our time in the hotel, 3 nights would also be good. But 4 nights? I dunno on this one as well…
Any thoughts? Is Zamami worth the logistics hassles for us?
