My parents will be visiting Kyoto soon. Especially my Dad loves history. I would love to get them a book about Kyoto’s history, temples and the surrounding areas. I’m not looking for a travel guide, more like a book that will talk about the history of the temples, how the city may have changed etc. He loved reading about Hokusai, the nakasendo and the kumano kodo.
I checked on Amazon and there seems to be some cheap, self published books on there which may well be good, but I’d love a quality recommendation if someone is willing to share!
