Dear experts,
I have questions regarding Japanese taxation on my U.S. income. I am a Japanese citizen with U.S. permanent residency status, having resided in the U.S. since the 1980s. I plan to retire in the coming years and relocate back to Japan around 2025-26. I have children in the U.S. so I will probably keep a house in the U.S. My retirement income sources include Social Security benefits and annual proceeds from stock sales.
After reading some posts, particularly the Takefuji case, I’ve learned that my U.S.-based income will be subject to both Japanese and U.S. taxes. If you could direct me to any websites that can help calculate my potential tax liabilities in both the U.S. and Japan, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
