I can’t seem to point out exactly why, but it’s already 2024 and J-Dramas are still too corny for the global market. I remember back in the early 90’s my parents have already called Japanese media as corny.
It’s definitely not a lack of acting skills. But they’re more boring and harder to watch than K-Dramas.
Is it because they try to infuse life lessons in almost all series? Or is it the exaggerated expressions? Or is it because certain topics like extra martial affairs or sex are taboo in J-Drama?
I just feel like the potential of Japanese actors and actresses are wasted because of poor production.
