I’m working on a project based on a research: “Phenomenon of Japanese picture brides in Hawaii 1908”. and I need help.

Hello everybody I’m a female student, majoring in Oriental studies and currently working on a research “Phenomenon of Japanese Picture brides in Hawaii 1908-1920”.

Next week I’ll be attending a conference as a speaker and currently I’m working on Instagram account project. It will tell a story of a picture bride based on a true story. To make it happen, I need your help.

I’m looking for a Japanese male, age between 18-24 years old with a suit or white shirt and a female between 18-24 years old (preferably with white dress).

I also attached google disk with references to what I’m looking for. I need picture in front of a wall standing or sitting. You can smile or have a rest face.

I need 3-5 pictures from a man and 8-10 from a woman.

The credit will be given during the conference and in Instagram account. Please comment under this post if you are willing to help.

One clarification:

For woman there is only one picture where white dress required. For casual pictures you can wear your daily cloths and if possible instead of jeans wear trousers.

I’ll be explaining all details directly. If you have any questions I’ll be more than happy to answer.

  1. There’s still such a thing as “Oriental” studies, and not Asian studies?

Just in that alone I hope no one does this for you, not to mention the only incentive here is some paltry credit. Everyone trying to dole out ‘credit’ now like that actually means or does something.

  2. Have you tried stock photos? Like if you’re not going to be taking the pictures yourself, that’s basically what you’re asking for.

  3. Contact the East-West center at The University of Hawai’i to see if they can help.
