7:30 a.m. now, the rain is lashing against my door with howling wind gusts, but typhoon no. 7 has made landfall at the tip of the Kii peninsula moving slowly at 10kph and has been downgraded from “strong typhoon” to “typhoon”. Gusts of 55m/s when it was over the open sea down to gusts of 40 m/s and sustained wind of 30 m/s. It’s expected to pass across Honshu all day to the Japan Sea if it doesn’t break up.
