Salary and dividends taxed at source?

I run a business in the UK and moved to Japan in October 2022.

My UK accountant has told me any income (salary or dividends) taken from the UK company should be paid to the UK government and not to Japan. Even if I send it to JPY and use it here to pay for rent and living expenses.

Can anyone else confirm that this is correct? The HMRC website is unclear at the best of times 😂 It just seems wrong to me that I’d pay tax in the UK on income that I’m using abroad.
