Still waiting for my Instructor’s VISA approval, what should I do?

Hello everyone. In the past 2 months or so, I have been hired by an ALT dispatch company and went through all of their hiring steps (first screening interview, document uploading, online training, demo lesson presentation) and technically now I am waiting for my certificate of eligibility so my VISA can get approved.

I should note that I am not a native speaker, which means that my VISA eligibility heavily depends on the 12-year English Education document I provided. Therefore, my chances are 50-50 more or less and I don’t even know whether I will be approved in the first place. It’s been almost 1 month and a half since I uploaded all the final documents and 2 weeks ago they told me that my VISA is still being processed.

However time is running out. They had mentioned that if I were to work with them I should be willing to move to Japan until the second week of March, or before April at the very least. But without having a concrete contract or schools, or even knowing that I will have my VISA ready when I land at the very least, I can’t go ahead and book a flight, look for apartments etc.

From your experience, does it take that long for the VISA to be approved? If so, what should I do in my case? Is waiting really my best course of action now? Should I keep asking my company about it? At this point, it’s pretty much my only way into Japan so all my hopes are on this one. It’s pretty much game over for me if that doesn’t work. Please any advice is welcome and very much appreciated. Thank you in advance!
