  1. because japan is not a warring nation, it doesn’t sell weapons abroad, it doesn’t have oil rigs to protect and shoot at locals, it doesn’t have colonies in africa to lose.

    japan should not emulate western allies who participated in the past few wars. Afghanistan deployment for example.

    the modern colonialism is all about soft power and how to influence those consumers to vouch/think for your government: kpop & korean government’s active support.

    you can already see this where Japan has lost out to Korea. You can see public opinions shift in the west towards japan’s historical issues. China as well, just not seen as “cool” enough for foreigners to care.

  2. The JMSDF has a history of helping out with mine-clearing duties at sea. I’m willing to bet once the Ukraine crises is over, they’ll be in the Black Sea helping the cleanup effort.
