A new sub has been created called /r/OsakaTravel. In the same way that we are now guiding traffic related to USJ to the new /r/USJ sub, we will now be sending travel related topic to the /r/OsakaTravel site. This will allow /r/Osaka to remain focused on life in Osaka.

Based on an analysis of posts, we’ve created some guidelines for topics that should be sent to the travel subreddit. If you encounter the following topics, please nicely refer the poster to the sidebar where they can find the /r/OsakaTravel sub:

### /r/OsakaTravel

**Primary Audience:** Tourists and travelers planning to visit or currently in Osaka.

**Heuristic:** If it’s about *short-term experiences* and *exploration* of Osaka as a destination, /r/OsakaTravel is the place.

* **Travel Questions & Advice:**
* Itinerary checks or suggestions specifically for Osaka.
* Best places to eat, drink, or sightsee.
* Recommendations for accommodations.
* Navigating the public transport system.
* **Events and Announcements (for Tourists):**
* Local festivals.
* Concerts or performances that tourists might attend.
* Any events particularly relevant for short-term visitors.
* **Cultural & Language Questions:**
* Understanding local customs and etiquette for visitors.
* Basic phrases or words to know in Japanese for a trip.
* Cultural spots or museums worth visiting.
* **Photos & Media (from a Tourist Perspective):**
* Pictures of Osaka’s key tourist spots.
* Articles or videos showcasing tourist attractions.
* **Experiences & Stories from Travelers:**
* Personal travel experiences or anecdotes from tourists.
* Recommendations or travel tips.
* **Food & Cuisine for Travelers:**
* Local specialties tourists should try.
* Recommended restaurants or cafes for tourists.
* **Miscellaneous Travel Queries:**
* Any other travel-related questions or concerns about Osaka.

There will be a bit of overlap between subs, but this is pretty clean. Here are some of the overlaps that we foresee:

### Apply to both /r/Osaka and /r/OsakaTravel:

* **General Tips & Tricks:** Could be from residents sharing local hacks.
* **Transportation:** Both travelers and residents use public transport, so topics about trains, buses, and other means might overlap.

**Apply to both** /r/Osaka **and** /r/USJ**:**

* **News events regarding USJ**: Legal or political disputes.
* **Major events or changes at USJ**: The introduction of a major attraction or show.

**Appy to All Three:**

* **Safety, Weather, or Health Announcements:** Could be important to both travelers and residents.

In order to make the appropriate topics clear, I’ll post a list of topics to go in /r/Osaka also. Then we’ll put it all in the sidebar.

If you are knowledgeable on these topics and want to help, please subscribe to these new subs and answer some questions. In order to make this work, we need people involved.

Also, don’t be afraid to use the report button if something is in the wrong sub, or give people some guidance. The report button will be helpful to someone posting in the wrong sub, they won’t be in trouble or anything.
