Tanahashi vs Goto at Dominion to decide who advances to main event of Forbidden Door

Tanahashi vs Goto at Dominion to decide who advances to main event of Forbidden Door

  1. Goto? I’m a HUGE Goto fan, but he’s not beating Tana and he’s not beating Moxley. There are so many better options to make it somewhat unpredictable.

**Tetsuya Naito -** Naito/Mox would be fun. Could even have Andrade win the Battle Royale to implant the idea of Naito/Andrade for the belt. Naito is only in a tag match at Dominion. Naito vs Tanahashi is a solid matchup.

**Zack Sabre Jr -** Is quite well known to the Western audience. Competing in a six man tag match for the Trios straps at Dominion, could have replaced him with Douki or another Suzuki-Gun member and hosting ZSJ/Tana, which is a rivalry synonymous with both men.

**Shingo Takagi -** He’s deep in his feud with Taichi atm, but that can wait and could easily main event a Road To Show leading up to Forbidden Door instead. KOPW is irrelevant. Takagi/Tanahashi III in a rubber match to decide who goes to Chicago is a fun premise.

**Will Ospreay -** Look, Ospreay may win the United States Championship at Dominion. He’s a key component of this triple threat including Juice Robinson and SANADA, however, SANADA has a right to challenge through him having to vacate the belt anyway. Ospreay probably won’t win at Dominion.

Ospreay vs Tanahashi was supposed to happen at Dontaku, it’s a rivalry that has flared up for years now. Plus, Ospreay/Moxley II is destined to happen after the finish of their previous match, so Ospreay/Tanahashi would be genuinely unpredictable.

    ***Why Goto?!***

  2. Goto beating Tanahashi and becoming Interim AEW World Champion only to lose to CM Punk and the reign never officially counting would be the most Goto move possible.

  3. Mox subtly choosing Goto cos he wants his win back over him but we all know our Samurai daddy gonna take the L again.

  4. A weird choice, but I think they went with Goto as a last minute thing because most of the roster are likely booked for Forbidden Door. I think it’s a pretty safe bet who’s coming out on top at Dominion.

If this leads to Moxley v. Tanahashi, I am all for it. A slapper of a match that would play into the storylines of both promotions.

  5. As a Goto fan I know how this one plays out. Still my boy got an opportunity.

  6. Tanahashi has to win but I’d love for Goto to get something at Forbidden Door. He’s our boy.

  7. Why do I have a feeling we’re not getting Tanahashi? I could be wrong though but it would make sense.

  8. At this point Forbidden Door is more like Cursed Door. The first match they announced had to be scratched do to injury

  9. Imagine if Tanahashi wins the AEW interim title. That would take some balls but it’d definitely get people talking.

  10. The result is fairly obvious, but Tana vs Goto is a nice addition to the Dominion card. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if it’s the second best match on the show.

  11. I’m gonna cheer for Goto because there’s no chance of him ever winning this thing.

  12. Best of an awful situation, maybe giving Mox a short run with a crowd will be a great way to thank him for helping keep the company growing during Covid. Or otherwise use it to briefly bump up someone’s stock, like KOR, MJF or Darby until Punk is cleared hopefully later this summer.

  13. I’m actually really hoping they let tanahashi win the aew world title.

  14. Yeah but that only matters when it matters, especially when you have an eliminator like this.

  15. June 26:

The bell rings. The match is over. The Ace, Hiroshi Tanahashi, is defeated. Standing across from him, the victor: Billy Gunn is the new AEW Interim World Heavyweight Champion; avenging his loss in LA from five years prior. Road Dogg comes out to celebrate with him.

We are all living in Ass World.

  16. I’m sorry but Tanahashi VS moxley is not worthy of the main event for forbidden door. There is only one match that should take place and that’s OKADA VS DANIELSON END OF STORY

  17. They honestly should just forget about putting the belt on the line against any njpw wrestler. It should only be AEW wrestlers involved

  18. Goto to win, then kenny to go to g1 and win taking back the title for major heat while in the bc

  19. This is such an unfortunate situation, but I’m glad it seems like both companies are making the best of it and making it into a storyline. Including an eliminator match at Dominion is a nice touch.

  20. overbooked 👏👏👏👏👏👏 overbooked 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 overbooked 👏👏👏👏👏👏

  21. I’m not a hardcore NJPW fan but I do get into the G1 and the big shows.

Can someone tell me what the fascination with Goto is? He seems bland af, and I’ve seen his old stuff on AXS too.

  22. If TK could convince Gedo to let him stay for a while I’d put the belt on Tanahashi

  23. It’s not that complicated. Tanahashi/Goto winner faces Mox/Royal winner. The kid in me wants to believe Tanahashi has a shot, even if it’s just for a short reign.

  24. Goto ending his 15+ year world title chase by becoming interim champion for a gaijin company would be the most Monkey’s Paw shit ever. Lol

  25. Now we know why the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship match will not be at Dominion.

  26. this would payoff mox talking about how tanahashi has been dodging him for a 1v1

  27. Well you do it as either both win or both lose. Having Hangman in Japan and Tanahashi in America would absolutely help strengthen the relationship at same time pick who takes the title off both. If MJF situation is a work then let him get the strap. Otherwise get a guy like Wardlow to take it off Tana after you build him against more upper level opponents. I’m sure NJPW can pick someone to elevate
