I am a Canadian on a working holiday visa in Japan for almost 6 months now and I really enjoy living here despite some of the struggles I’ve had so far.
I’ve tried doing as much research on potential visas but it looks like it’s quite limited for me as I am only a 2-year Canadian College Diploma graduate so I don’t think teaching English is an option for me. My Japanese is at best daily conversational level but I struggle a lot with learning Kanji so I am having no luck with finding technical jobs I went to school for (Electro-mechanical Engineering), and I’m not sure if I could afford to do Japanese language school for a student visa.
The Specialized Skilled Workers Visa seems like something that fits my qualifications but I get pretty confused when I look into how it works and I’m not even sure if a Canadian can even get it as it looks like it’s catered to SEA countries.
I’m not too optimistic about being able to stay but any advice is appreciated. Thanks for reading!
