Good resource to “check your work” when writing sentences?

Are there any good resources to check your work when coming up with your own sentences?

I usually pop in into Google Translate, but that is obviously a less than ideal option since it tries to figure out what you meant, even if the grammar wasn’t quite right, which defeats the point, and is really not good with subtly (to be nice).

Does anyone know any good resources, ideally automated, but not automated are also welcome.
