Turning Japanese driving license into “international driving license”

Hello dear Japanlife community!

Simple question… Has anyone ever tried to use his/hers Japanese driving license to rent a car abroad?

I am going to Indonesia and was wondering how fast / easy it would be to have an “Japanese international driving license”.

(If I ask my home country representatives it will take weeks…)
