Sorry if this has been posted before. As the title implies, I am completely new to buying stocks but as I get older I feel I should invest in stock trading. For context I currently live and work in Japan and have PR (if that matters)
From my limited understanding, I need to find a stock broker and to open an account with them? My challenge however is knowing who to trust; whether to apply with a personal stock broker or a brokerage firm, and then how do I go about applying with them and opening an account.
In terms of language I can communicate in Japanese, if I need to (or English).
Lastly, some friends have recommended using a broker outside of Japan (they have brokers based in the U.S. or EU) however as much as possible I hope to use a broker based in Japan since I see myself living here long-term.
Would anyone be able to help point me in the right direction or have any advices?
