Freelance graphic designer seeking legal advice

Hi everyone,

I am living for almost a year now in Japan, and I have the dependent visa (came here with my spouse who is with a working visa). As I wanted to begin my freelancer journey, I have applied for and got the permission to work (28hours/week based on my visa).

I give out services in branding, other graphic design and web design. So far it is going good, recently several prospects have contacted me to help tgeir business out. These people, however, are from other countries around the world. I speak with them either Bulgarian or English.

I am seeking legal advice and would really appreciate it if you know someone who can help me with the following question:
– As I mentioned above I’m talking to several prospects. I want to include a contract before we start with the actual work on their projects. I need someone who knows the ins and outs for such type of work, what my legal rights are and help me craft a contract I can use with my clients.

I don’t speak Japanese, so I’d appreciate if these services can be done in English (as well).

I currently have a template for such a contract that I bought, but it is based on US law, and I am not entire sure but I think that this type of document has to be based on the law of the country I conduct my work from.

I tried searching this page for possible answers but couldnt find anything. On top of that I find it hard to pinpoint and get proper results on Google regarding my question and worries.

So any help/recommendation of a professional would be greatly appreciated! Thank you 🙂
