I have taken a new job for a Japanese company where one of the biggest challenges is to dive into what might be broken in their design methodology and help to improve it to match Silicon Valley standards. That means suggesting new ways of doing things if needed. I understand the Japanese culture a bit as I have spent many years in Japan previously. But I can already sense the push back of “This is how we have always done things.” Any advice? I hope I don’t have to take groups and groups of engineers to 飲み会(drinking parties).
