Please help me choose my first Japanese text+audio game

I’ve been playing games with Japanese audio/English subtitles and want to do all Japanese now.

It might be a little too soon for me to dive into this, but I’m feeling like taking a risk 🙂 I’m okay with it going slow and taking a while.

I have a Switch and have figured out to buy games via the Japanese store.

I’m in the N5 level—I’ve been studying on my own for about 9 months.

Only just started learning kanji though.

(I’m taking a slow approach using the “Japanese From zero!” Series. I’m on book 3. I’m almost 40, and this is a hobby, please don’t roast me for being slow!)

I’m debating between:
– Famicom detective
– Animal Crossing: New Horizon
– Crayon Shin-Chan
– Layton’s mystery journey
– Blue Reflection

I will probably try all of them, but I’m wondering which one you all think is best as my very first all Japanese game, given my level?

More context if helpful:

AC:NH is boring to me (sorry! I just really like having a story/narrative) so that’s my biggest worry with that game.

I love solving mysteries. But I also saw some worrying info about famicom (re: assaulting a corpse?) that makes me pause…famicom was my top choice until I saw that.

I have persona 5 royal and it’s great…but I dislike turn based games so it’s a slog for me.

Thank you!
