Sanyo-San’in Northern Kyushu Pass question

I have some questions about the Sanyo-San’in Northern Kyushu Pass.

1. It covers Sanyo Shinkansen and then says passes are not valid on Tokaido Shinkansen (toward Tokyo from Shin-Osaka). In ordinary English, this would mean it’s not valid on any Tokaido train and then the () would indicate an e.g. or i.e. explanation; without brackets, of course, it would only state its not valid on Tokaido after Osaka. The brackets do a lot of work in English 🙂 So I feel like what they are actually saying is that it is valid on Tokaido, but not beyond Osaka. My confusion comes a bit from Google, which calls the whole line Tokadio-Sanyo. Are Sanyo and Tokadio the same line? Is my interpretation correct?
2. There is a detailed map here ([https://www.westjr.co.jp/global/en/ticket/ssnk/](https://www.westjr.co.jp/global/en/ticket/ssnk/)). I don’t know if any stations are missing, but Onomichi is missing. Is there some reason I can’t take it from Hiroshima to Shin-Onomichi? Would I need to go to Fukuyama and take a local train back or is the map just missing some spots?
3. Let’s say I start in Hiroshima. Assuming (based on answers to q1) I can use the pass to ride to Osaka, but I want to go to Tokyo, could I use the pass to book the train from Hiroshima to Osaka, then independently buy a ticket from Osaka to Tokyo for the same train, and therefore not even have to get off the train?
