I tried using Smart Ex to book Shinkansen tickets but my Australian Mastercard doesn’t work.
Is there any way to buy Shinkansen tickets from Shinjuku to Takayama in advance? I wanted to possibly book seats that will allow oversized luggage but if I can’t book in advance and have to book at the station, changes are those types of seats will be long gone.
Is there anything else I can do? Would it be easy to get Shinkansen tickets at the station on the morning of travel?
