Employer says they can’t sponsor a visa even if I have a Bachelor’s?

Hello,

Some time ago I found a really nice company that I want to enter as a shinsotsu. The position would be in sales.

I was always told that I only needed a degree for the visa, even if it was not really in a related field. By this, I mean they say it should be in a related field, but this is never enforced. (At least this is what I always see online and even here)

Did this change? Do they care about the field now? Being shinsotsu, I was sure it didn’t matter what I graduated, and I would have the green light as long as a company signs with me.

Is it a misunderstanding on my part? Maybe the employer just doesn’t want to risk it, but this made me really unsure of what I had read before.

Thanks!

Edit: I also know about the intern visa. But that one is only for internships up to a year. Is this how the shinsotsu for foreign nationals works? You get the intern visa and change it to a working visa(humanities in this case) after the internship since you are more qualified?
