I’m having debilitating back, neck, and shoulder problems. The cause is most likely years of sitting at a computer like a cave troll. But as of about 3 years ago, it caught up with me, and now I can’t sit at a computer for more than about 20 minutes without pain kicking in.
I have…
* Seen multiple doctors
* Had x-rays
* Had MRIs
* Replaced my mattress
* Replaces my chair
* Replaced my desk
* Replaced my monitor
* Switched to a split keyboard
* Tried an ergonomic thumbwheel mouse
* Tried 6 months of vigorous gym routine to bulk
* Tried every YouTube tutorial under the sun
* Tried physical therapy covered by insurance
* Tried seitai/seikotuin
* Tried stuff like Dr. Stretch
* Tried self-stetching at home
* Tried EMS (muscle electric shock thing)
* Tried accupuncture
* Tried posture correcting devices
Ultimately the scans show spondylolisthesis in the lower back and herniated disc in the neck. Both of these are the lightest “common” versions, so I’m told by everyone that surgery is not an option.
I’m out of ideas and am starting to get desperate, and at this point, I would empty my bank account to whoever can truly help improve this or solve it.
The trouble is, if I’m being honest, the docs that I’ve seen are just awful. I unfortunately look young (even though almost 40, I look like 25), and so everyone is just like, “ah do some stretches, you’ll be fine.”
I don’t care how expensive it is, I need to leapfrog over these archaic hospitals and get a real, modern specialist of some kind. Like if it is truly a problem of posture or exercise, then I need someone to literally come to my house and examine everything, provide a specific and detailed workout plan for my particular issue.
Personally at this point, I’m suspecting some kind of muscle / nerve problem, but no one really seems to entertain that it could be anything other than bad posture.
Any recommendations, thoughts, etc.?
