Where to get my (swiss) driving license translated to Japanese. It’s a maze online =/

Hi all,

We just booked a rental car from Tokyo for 10 days starting on the 02.01.24 (jan 2nd). Everything is ready but we do need to have our Swiss drivers’ license translated to Japanese as the last step before we pick up the car.

I see that we could do this online? But I’ve been going through so many page with so many info, broken pages, conflicting steps etc. I’m getting lost.

Any chance you could point me to the right website? Or should we do it when we arrive in Tokyo on the 30th ? Or somewhere in Switzerland before we leave?

I know it’s last minute, but so was our decision to rent a car.

As for the reasons: there’s no more bus slot available to do the Takayama/ShirakawaGo/Kanazawa, seems fully booked online already. I thought 2 weeks in advance would be enough.

We also quite like the idea of a road trip, where we can stop wherever and whenever we want. We will also have pretty large bagages, so no need to use the bagages forwarding services with a car.

All in all, by deducting the train/fwd services fees, the car rental comes at 500$ for 10 days more or less.

Not sure it’s a 4×4 though, it’s a Toyota Sienta with winter tires, might be fun around Takayama/ShirakawaGo xD, but coming from Switzerland, we grew up riding snowy mountains roads.

Hope you can help and thanks a ton in advance !!

Cheers
