Long story short, I’m at the eleventh-hour of being granted a home loan, but the bank is now asking that I account for a discrepancy between the reported taxable income provided by my company and the proof of tax paid according to government for FY2022.
This was the first year I had a company handling all my tax matters directly, so I wasn’t even aware of the discrepancy until now, and immigration certainly didn’t flag it when I extended my visa just a few months ago using exactly the same paperwork.
Honestly, I’m not sure why they even care, seeing as it amounts to almost 35,000 yen overpaid on my part, and I’m so exhausted by the whole process at this point that I just want the issue to go away. I have my company investigating, and I’ll try going to the ward office next week as well, but if neither side is able to pinpoint the exact cause, what more can I reasonably do to resolve this?
