Real Estate Toki (登記) Question

Looking for an answer from anyone who has bought a property. On the Certificate of Registration (登記簿謄本), were you able to use your name in alphabet letters, or did you have to use katakana?

  1. Same katakana as on your seal registration that you should already have done at your city hall. Work on your hanko stamping skills, you’ll be doing that a lot.

  2. Thank you all for your replies. It’s interesting that names are treated inconsistently – I thought it would be more bureaucratic and rigid. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that I can use alphabet.
