Hey!
I’m currently running my Eikaiwa and had a good start in my first year, however I want to change the books/curriculum for the next year. I’m looking for advice or thoughts from others.
Currently we are using “Explore Our World” a Nat Geo ESL book which teaches vocab and Grammer with some activities. Overall I didn’t rate the book highly.
Elementary 12 class do Explore our world 1
Elementary 34 class do Explore our world 2
Elementary 56 do Explore our world 3
I want to change the curriculum so that Elementary 12 do a PHONICS based book for the first 2 years of Elementary School.
I think its more helpful if they learn how to read and write more before they start elementary 3.
Does anyone have experience or advice relating to teaching phonics as the main focus to elementary 1/2 ?
Traditionally eikaiwa just teach vocab and grammar at all levels but I feel like it would be a greater advantage to the children if they instead focused on phonics at the start of elementary.
