I’ve been living in Japan for 6 and a half years and I’ve always had this “I don’t want to buy a whole bunch of things in case the day comes I decide to move back home” which leads to “I don’t feel fully satisfied living here because I’m not letting myself live the life I want.” Lather, rinse, repeat, it becomes a feedback loop.
I imagine I’m not the only one who experiences this. I can’t imagine time will let this change, so I wanted ask two things:
1. How do others experiencing it deal with it?
2. In the event of a move back home, how hard is it to get rid of material possessions, ideally responsibly and with minimal waste?
*EDIT:*
Wanted to say thanks to all who responded, I’m blown away by the community here sharing their thoughts and glad to see lots of others spin off new discussions. Hopefully a lot of folks got some insight from disucssion!
