Short- Term Acquaintance Visa for American Fiancée

Hello! I am an American national currently living and working in Japan. I want to get an acquaintance visa for my fiancée (also American), to visit my home for 30 days maximum.

I wanted to ask how they determine one’s validity for this situation? Generally, do you provide pictures together, evidence of calls, living together, etc? I want to know what is expected to provide before applying.

Thanks if anyone can answer!

  1. I’ve recently applied for the same visa. I contacted the embassy and also the foreign affairs. So far they didn’t asked for proof or anything, foreign affairs said it’s best to have photos and stuff but not mandatory, you may need and may not. In case they need, they should contact you. You will need to write down a background story as to why you inviting the person. I read online of Japanese people writing a very long story with photos, so it’s mostly certain they will approve the visa.
Although I still haven’t got the answer for the visa, that’s my experience so far.
